Ekku Mattila, "The doctor gave me three months to live" Where in the heck have you lost the cancer, did you ate it,even the doctor wondered. Ekku Mattila, a 64-year old man from Kauhajoki, Finland, real first name is Juhani, but people have been calling him Ekku since his school times which was over 50 years ago. -I was first called Jekku (a trick), because I was a trick maker, but then it turned to Ekku when I was on the third grade. Ekku has been busy with his life. Six years ago he retired from his janitor-caretakers job, but he has also been a night watchman, air conditioner, and even a private investigator when he was younger. He has only gone through the compulsory basic education,but that has not bothered him in his life. Ekku has also been a busy bee his private life since he has been married three times and he is a father of 11 children. First marriage gave a daughter, the second 2 daughters and 2 sons, his 25 year old third marriage 6 children; 3 sons and 3 daughters. The youngest child is going to second grade now. -My wife is 20 years younger than me and she gives me the looks that the 12th child could be actual, Ekku laughs. -My fathers days are full of hassle and there´s plenty of cake to enjoy. THERE WAS NOTHING ANYONE COULD DO Ekku was a completely healthy man until September 2001. Then he was struck by a 38 C fever that lasted for 18 days. -When I went to a lung x-ray to city of Kauhajoki, they first suspected pneumonia, but when the results came back they were scared and told me to go straight to the city of Seinäjoki. After thorough examinations 21.November a cancer tumor of size 2,4 x 4,1cm was detected from my hilum. They offered me a surgery and chemotherapy treatments, but I was also let to know that there was nothing much they could do about the tumor. -The doctor said straight ahead that without any treatment I would have three months lifetime. As you know lung cancer usually strikes at smokers. Ekku had been a smoker, but he only smoked one pack in a week and he had quit smoking in year 1969 so the reason for the lung cancer was not detected straight away. -When I heard that there was no hope, I declined all treatments. I told them I would not be torn apart, I would rather die. There were many doctors present and I had to sign a non-treatment agreement before they let me out. Two days after the diagnose I went to the pharmacy and got a organ donor testament, just to preserve some parts of me. THE PINE EXTRACT DRINK COMES TO THE PICTURE The same day Ekku heard about his cancer a friend of him paid a visit. Friend´s mother sold Kari Herttua´s pine extract drink and Ekku started drinking it 600 ml per day. -I started the dose on the same day I got back from the hospital. I drank half a bottle in the morning to an empty stomach and the other half I drank in the evening. I did not change my other habits in any way. I gave in to the nursing staff so much that I agreed to do a lung endoscopy on 4. December. Everyone was totally amazed; Ekku´s cancer tumor had disappeared in a fortnight. They only found a 9 cm long scar from his lungs. -There were many doctors present who wondered what happened. The tuberculosis expert doctor, with a blink of humor in his eye, suspected that I have I eaten the tumor. I told everyone I had been drinking the pine extract drink for the last two weeks and they asked me to bring it to the hospital so they could see it. I kept drinking it for a few months, even though my lungs were completely cured. At some point the doctors began to question their own cancer diagnoses. -They concurred that I never had a lung cancer and that it was just a some sort of inflammation in my lungs. They never confessed that the cancer would have gone away with help of the pine extract drink, but I have the cancer diagnose stated in all my documents. Ekku went to checkups to a few times every six months but every time got healthy man´s papers. -I have an agreement that I go there when I'm not feeling healthy and think there is something wrong with me, but I have not been to a checkup during the past 2 years. EKKU RUNS A MARATHON Ekku himself gladly admits that he himself has been amazed by what happened, but he jokes that man can get healthier the older he gets. Not a single doctor has been negative towards the pine extract drink. - Even though I took the bottle with me to the hospital I have not asked any comments about it. Time has gone so fast and it was over 8 years ago. Ekku Mattila´s miracles do not seem to have an end. He ran a full marathon just after 4 years he had been diagnosed with lung cancer. -It was Helsinki City Marathon in 2004, Ekku tells. I had been running by myself before and trained for the marathon for 8 months and 2100 kms. Now I have a second marathon in my mind and I want to improve my time from 5 hr. 8 mins. down to 4 hr., which is not a bad time for an oldtimer like me. -There is nothing wrong with my lungs, absolutely nothing. And I'm a healthy man in every aspect because I have no medication. I eat porridge every morning and take vitamins, magnesium and occasionally also fish oil. Ekku further surprises by revealing that he has been a sage over 40 years. I am a bit of a sorcerer, it goes in my family, says Ekku. CAN'T BE EXPLAINED BY A COINCIDENCE Mr. Tuomas Kaasalainen, MSc in chemistry, is interested in studying the pine extract drink and he thinks that Ekku Mattila´s case is a good example of that nutrition can have very radical health effects. It is very uncommon to cancer diseases that they just disappear by themselves. -The medical practicioners and doctors should thoroughly study these kind of cases in detail and ponder what seized almost a certain death. There are so many cases of cancer where the pine extract drink could have been the key for getting better. They should make a scientific research about it. That would reveal how many cases and effects, similar to Ekku Mattila´s, there can be found. -Nowadays the majority of the medical core thinks that illnesses can only be treated with medicine.
